2016 Summer Programming

Shakespeare

The Shakespeare intensive will focus on major principles of Shakespearean text analysis, including scansion, imaging, and acting poetry, the study of Shakespeare’s context life and work in the creating of complex character will also be a major part of this study. John Barton’s “Playing Shakespeare” (Text and video) will be the source material for this class. Sonnets, soliloquys, and scenes will be assigned to each student culminating in a Festival performance in July. Solo Shakespeare projects will be discussed and developed in conjunction with this class.

Note:

All artists, actors, and students interested in classes must sign up for an audition. Auditions should include two contrasting monologues; one contemporary, and one Shakespearean verse. The audition is a way for us to get to know each other and to ensure you are placed in a class that will be both challenging and suited to your current level of experience and training. Please do not hesitate to contact us for details regarding this process!

Visionbox will accept up to 16 actors for each class.

We also accept directors and playwrights into our classes. Directors and writers should also schedule an interview with Ms. Rincon and our staff for more information on the class they are interested in.
