Nicole is a director and dramaturg who lives in Denver, CO. In 2008, Nicole received a BFA in Theatre and Dance (Performance) from the University of Wyoming. In Minneapolis, she was a literary intern at the Guthrie Theater where she assisted the Dramaturge for A DELICATE BALANCE and for SHADOWLANDS. In Denver, she was a literary intern at the Denver Center Theatre Company where she assisted the Literary Manager and Dramaturg for QUILTERS, A RAISIN IN THE SUN, THE VOYSEY INHERITANCE, WELL, and WHEN TANG MET LAIKA. Also in Denver, Nicole was the literary intern at Curious Theatre Company where she participated in season planning for Season 14 and was the Assistant Dramaturg for HOMEBODY/KABUL. Nicole's directing credits include directing a production of COWBOY MOUTH at the University of Wyoming. Nicole enjoys taking the adult acting classes at Visionbox Studio as a directing assistant. She likes the atmosphere of the studio where she gets to work with actors who are at different stages in their careers.

I grew up as a musical theater actor, taking dance class and voice lessons from age six. I studied opera at the University of Utah and completed a musical theater intensive at Circle in the Square in Manhattan. When I moved to Denver in January 2013 I hadn't been onstage in over a year, and needed to get my acting chops back. A Google search led me to Visionbox, the only actor training studio I could find in Denver. I met with Jennifer to express my interest and she said, "We don't turn anyone away." Then added, "unless they have a terrible attitude." I joined a Music in Acting class and put my good attitude to work. The nervous energy I felt at that first class turned into fuel for discovering new material and working with the other actors. I am confident in the visionbox actors and the material we study. The role this studio plays in my life is tangible; I read more plays, meet the characters, study my lines, then get on my feet and work in a safe, artistic environment - free of terrible attitudes.
Visionbox helped me to rekindle my interest in the creative aspect of acting and to not worry about putting myself in a box because I couldn't do something proficiently or technically (i.e. accents). It also taught me how to use the script as a map to dictate my performance. It was a great time for me and I hope to go back someday. When I went back to university after Visionbox I showed profound improvement and felt confident in my impulses and choices.
