New Certificate Program for 2015/2016 Season
Denver Academy of Dramatic Arts announces it's new Professional Actor Training Certificate Program.
This course of study is focused on providing students a comprehensive approach to the art of acting. The curriculum has been designed by Jennifer McCray Rincon, who was the Head of Acting at the National Theatre Conservatory MFA Actor Training Program at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Ms. Rincon is also a graduate of the Yale School of Drama Directing program. She has studied and worked with some of the most influential and important actor trainers & directors in the history of theater including (but not limited to): Nikos Psacharopoulous, Earle Gister, Gerald Gutierrez, Tony Church, & John Barton.
This actor training program will for Fall includes American Classical Realism, Chekhov, Ibsen & Strindberg, and Acting Shakespeare. For the Winter/Spring, students may select any 3 classes including Archetypal Acting, Irish Theatre, British & American Comedy, or Acting Music. Students enrolled in the certificate program will receive a discount on the combined tuition of all 3 courses. Students MUST enroll in all courses.

Winter/Spring Sequences
Archetypal Acting

DATE: Jan 11 - Feb 11 Workshop Performance Sunday, Feb 21st
TIME: MONDAY & THURSDAY 6pm-9pm (10 Classes, 40 class hours)
TUITION: $400
This class will explore character and acting approches to the work of Bertolt Brecht and Greek Theatre (Aeschylus, Euripedes, and Sophocles). The work of Joseph Campbell will also be referenced in the class, in particular the power of myth as well as the directing work of Lee Breuer. Actors will explore the use of archetype and attitude in accessing character in ways outside of ordinary realism. This class will also prepare students for work in the contemporary avant-garde as well as physical theatre.

Irish Theatre
DATE: Feb 15 - Mar 19 Workshop Performance Sunday, Mar 20th
TIME: MONDAY & THURSDAY 6pm-9pm (10 Classes, 40 class hours)
TUITION: $400
The Actor's 5 Questions will continue to be explored (but not limited to) the plays of Brian Friel, Samuel Beckett, Martin McDonagh, John Millington Synge. Irish poetry, folklore and culture will be studied as background for this exploration.

British & American Comedy
DATE: April 19 - May 19, Workshop Performance Sunday, May 22nd
TIME: MONDAY & THURSDAY 6pm-9pm (10 Classes, 40 Class Hours)
TUITION: $400
This class will take an in depth look at some of the specific techniques around the analysis and playing of comedy in American and British plays. Scenes will be selected from a wide range of playwrights including but not limited to Neil Simon, Christopher Durang, David Ives, Sarah Ruhl, Wendy Wasserstein, Caryl Chruchill, Tom Stoppard, David Mamet, Harold Pinter, Oscar Wilde, and Noel Coward. The Actor’s 5 Questions, physical behavior, comic timing, lozzi, and irony will be studied in the context of these great writers.
